Fred Schimmelman

Frederick Paul Schimmelman passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, after a brief illness. Fred was born in Cleveland OH, and grew up in Bay City MI. He served in the 5th Army Band at Fort Sheridan, IL, and graduated from Northwestern University. While at Northwestern he met and married Mary Margaret Anderson and they raised their family in the Chicago-land area. Fred played bass in many Chicago area jazz ensembles and taught choral music at Rolling Meadows High-school until his retirement. After that time, Fred and Mary Margaret settled permanently and happily in Lakeside, MI 20 years ago. Fred was preceded in death by his son Carl, and is survived by Mary Margaret and his children, Paul (Peggy), Bob (Morag), and Amy (Petur), and many loving nephews, nieces and grandchildren. There will be an open house at Freds family home in Lakeside on Saturday, September 27 between 1 and 4pm.
