Carroll J. “CJ” Enders, 90, of Stevensville, passed away, Saturday, June 27, 2015 at his home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd. with Pastor Michael Roth officiating. Burial to follow at Lincoln Twp. Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph. CJ was born May 24, 1925 in Niles, MI to Verl & Lydia (Kietzer) Enders. He attended Benton Harbor High School and went on to attend an Electronic Trade School in Detroit. CJ proudly served his country in the European Theatre during WWII at Omaha Beach and in Belgium, France and Germany. He was the recipient of nine medals during his time in the Army, one of which was a purple heart. On May 15, 1965 he wed Gertrude “Trudy” Jahnke in St. Joseph. He worked at Bendix as a machine operator for 25 years before retiring in 1991. CJ was a lifetime member of the Benton Harbor Elks Club and Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bird watching, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. CJ will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Our lives were enriched by his love.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Trudy; daughters Lisa Ann (Fredrick) Lewis of Niles and Amy Williams of St. Joseph; two very special grandchildren Justin Barker and Brittany Lewis. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Arnold Enders, Robert Enders and Raymond Enders and sisters Helen Curtis and Dorothy Hetfield.
