Bruce Alan Burke, 59, of Stevensville, MI passed away on August 28, 2015 at Hanson Hospice Center after a long and courageous 3 year battle with brain cancer. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at 2 PM at Starks and Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, officiating will be Pastor Rosenbaum. Friends may visit an hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Benton Harbor Area Schools Basketball Team or Michigan State University Engineering School. Those wishing to sign Bruce’s guest book may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Bruce was born on February 5, 1956 in Benton Harbor to Darrell and Cecilia Burke. He attended Benton Harbor High School where he played basketball. Bruce earned his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. He worked as a mechanical engineer consulting for many nuclear companies. Bruce had an entrepreneurial spirit, he loved to buy and sell items at a bargain. If Bruce wasn’t shopping around at garage sales or thrift stores he could be found working on or riding his motorcycle. He was a proud member of D.A.N.K. and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Bruce is survived by his children, Vincent Burke of Midland, MI, Sophia (Michael) Strudas of Benton Harbor, and Grace Burke of Coloma; grandson, Landon Strudas; mother, Cecilia (Warren) Seabury; siblings, Katherine O’Connor, Judith Kibbey, Michael Burke, and Brian Burke; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bruce was preceded by his father, Darrell Burke.
