Josie Jones

Josie Pearl Jones, 79, of Benton Harbor, passed away, Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph. A Celebration Service of Homegoing will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Lilton Easterling officiating. Josie was born March 30, 1937 in Mantachie, Mississippi to Jennie & Wynona (Davison) Cummings. She graduated from Fulton Colored High School in Fulton, Mississippi in 1959.  Josie tended to her house & family, but enjoyed styling hair whenever she could.  Josie was a member of Full Gospel Christian Center in Benton Harbor.  In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, babysitting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her  Josie is survived by her daughters-Waynette Jones, Diane Jones & Charlotte Jones, all of Benton Harbor; daughter-in-law Angela Hampton Jones of Dallas, TX; grandchildren-Chakeemala Jones of Benton Harbor, Quandreesia Jones of Memphis, TN, Joneshia Jones of Benton Harbor, Jocelyn (Antonio) Dinkins of Jacksonville, NC, John Jones, Jr. of Grand Rapids, MI Jaquantae “Peter” Jones of Kalamazoo, Jaden Jones & Jalia Jones, both of Benton Harbor; thirteen great-grandchildren; three sisters-Genevieve Dean & Nelter Christian, both of Benton Harbor, Fay Whitlock of Cincinnati, OH; a sister-in-law Robbie Cummings of Benton Harbor; two Godchildren-Dave Drake & Tikeisha Gordon, both of Benton Harbor; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & extended family; and special friends-Mrs. Eddie Mae Woodley, and Bertrum & Byron Gray-who were like sons. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Ramonnica Jones in 2007, her son John Jones, Sr. in 2012, four sisters-Nona Nichols, Channie Green, Wynell Cummings, Grynell Cummings, and two brothers- Cloise Cummings and her twin Allan Cummings.
