David Christian Hart

David Christian Hart, 65, of Bainbridge Township, passed away after a battle with lung cancer on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.  A Gathering will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M., Monday, May 23, 2016 at St. Augustine’s of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 1753 Union St., Benton Harbor with a graveside service at 11:00 A.M. at Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Memorials may be made in c/o of Joan Hart for medical and funeral expenses. Those wishing to share a memory of David online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com  David was born November 12, 1950 in Benton Harbor, MI to Jack & Mildred (Jaffke) Hart. He graduated from St. Joseph High School. On August 30, 1998, he married Joan McGrath. David worked for Leco Corporation for 19 years as well as Bosch for 7 years. After work, David enjoyed spending time with friends and having a drink and talking about world politics in the US and Middle East. He enjoyed residing on his family’s centennial farm where he enjoyed gardening, his fish pond, and the wet lands. He especially enjoyed his dog Peanut and pet chicken Remington Steel. Dave loved listening to music, especially ZZ Top, the Beatles, Bluegrass, and the Blues. Dave also liked reading and watching television.  David is survived by his wife Joan Hart; step-mother Mildred Gillette; children Jason (Heather) Gloe and Matthew (Joy) Glass; eight grandchildren Gianna, Calvin, Aleigha, Jordan, Izak, Riley, Tatum and Zachary; two brothers Tim (Lynn) Hart and Jack Hart Jr.; and the beloved members of the Gillette and McGrath families.
