Zachary Marshall Sweet

Zachary Marshall Sweet, 8 months old, of St. Joseph, passed away at home in his mother’s arms Thursday, July 21, 2016. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Monday, July 25 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph with Rev. Michael Fa’asoa officiating. Zachary was born October 28, 2015 in Kalamazoo, MI to Jason & Amy (Melin) Sweet. Shortly after birth, he was diagnosed with Type I Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Surviving Zachary are his parents; brother Benjamin; grandparents Dale (Sharon) Melin of Glen Ellyn, IL and Daniel (Kimberly) Sweet of Haslett, MI; great-grandparents Robert (Mahrlene) Rainey, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Zachary was preceded in death by his aunt Tiffany Melin-Spinelli and great-grandparents Louis & (Elinor “Jean”) Sweet, Francis (Mary Alice) O’Connell and Gordon (Dorothy) Melin.
