Dale O. Jeffers, 89, of St. Joseph, MI passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at his residence. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI.
Dale was born on Oct. 16, 1927 in Gardner, IL to the late Bernie and Vera (Woodward) Jeffers. He was a graduate of Gardner South Wilmington High School in 1945. Dale also was a 70 year alumnus of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology receiving his BSME degree. He later graduated from MSU with a MBA degree. Dale served his country during the Korean War while in the U.S. Army. On July 2, 1955 he married Jo Anne Bacon. He was an active member of the St. Joseph Lions Club; a member of the Korean War Veterans Group; a leader within Lest We Forget; a member of the Economic Club; and a member of the Professional Engineers with the State of Michigan. Dale was also a very devoted husband and caretaker of his wife of 62 years.
Dale is survived by his wife Jo Anne; a sister – Dorothy Hutchings of Houston, TX; nephews – James Hutchings of Houston, TX, Robert (Deborah) Jeffers of Ada, MI, Andrew (Mary Ann) Jeffers of Clarkston, MI and John (Shilpa) Hutchings of Seattle, WA; nieces – Verna (Robert) Kerfonta of Weddington, NC, Sandra McAfee of Denton, TX and Sarah (Paul) Jacobsen of Shawnee, KS; and a sister-in-law Donna Jeffers of Washington, IL. He is preceded in death by two brothers – Philip and Robert Jeffers.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, May 29, 2:00 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home in St. Joseph, MI. Friends may visit with the family preceding the service from 1:00-2:00P.M. at the funeral home. Dale’s final resting place will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Support Endowment For All Who Served………..part of the Berrien Community Foundation.
