Mary King

Mary King, 82, of Benton Harbor, MI passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Bickford of Lansing in Lansing, MI.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 23, 2017 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Dan Head officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the funeral home or on Friday from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Dementia Foundation, Hospice or organization of choice. Those wishing to share a memory of Mary online may do so at www.stark-menchinger.com  Mary was born July 29, 1934 in Lake City, Arkansas to Robert & Winnie (Hunt) Tapp. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1952. On June 6, 1953 she married the love of her life Richard L. King at the Methodist Peace Temple in Benton Harbor. Mary worked for Michigan Bell Telephone as well as AT&T for many years. She was a member of the St. Joseph Elks, Past President of the Emblem Club and a Den Mother for Cub Scouts.  Mary is survived by her sons Larry (Fred Korroch) King and John (David ) King; grandchildren Jennifer (Abel) Nieto, Kevin (Jodi) King, Brian King, Tracy (Tighe) Pierce and Robert King; 5 great-grandchildren; special family Gus Leoni and Wendy King. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard L. King to whom she was married to for 63 years; granddaughter Kristine King; great- grandson Vance King; sisters Shirley (Tapp) Evans, Betty Lou Tapp and Shelby Gene Tapp; and father and mother-in-law John & Bernice King.
