Ruth Anne (Fletcher) Tallman, 80, of Coloma, Michigan died peacefully April 27th, 2018 surrounded by family. Ruth was born February 25th 1938 in the rural county of Cohocton, Ohio. After graduating high school she moved to Columbus, Ohio where she met the city boy who was to become her husband.
Cliff and Ruth were married April 6th, 1958 at Isleta Methodist Church of Ohio. Ruth obtained a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University after starting a family of three children and became certified as Home Economics teacher, but used her skill to manage the Tallman household.
In the first 30 years of their marriage, Cliff and Ruth lived in 7 different communities within Ohio and spent the last 30 years “settled” in their home in Michigan. Ruth was an avid quilter, reader and enjoyed traveling with Cliff across the US especially visiting national parks and botanical gardens.
Ruth, a member of The Chapel of St. Joseph, was very engaged in church worship. In addition, Cliff and Ruth are active with Bible Study Fellowship (BSF). For the past 15 years they would travel to San Antonio for the month of February and volunteer at BSF headquarters, often celebrating her birthday with the numerous friends that they made there.
Ruth is survived by her husband Cliff, children Martin (Maria) Tallman of Coloma, MI; David (Silke) Tallman of Hofheim Germany; Kathy (Mike) Haines of Cincinnati, OH and grandchildren James of Perrysburg, OH; Rachel of Auburn Hills, MI; Nathaniel, Jacob, Autumn all of Coloma, MI; and Mark, Johann, Charlotte, Katherine all of Hofheim Germany, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Kaye Fletcher of Newcomerstown, OH.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30am Weds., May 2nd at the Chapel in St Joseph. Visitation will be hosted at Starks & Menchinger – 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI, on Tues., May 1st from 5pm until 8pm. Ruth will be interned at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek.
