Martin's Obituary

Martin Stanley Golob, Jr., 86, of Bridgman, Michigan (Beachwood, Ohio), passed away peacefully on April 17, 2024.

He was born in Euclid, Ohio on May 2, 1938 to Martin and Antionette (née Jakopic) (both deceased).

Martin Graduated from St. Joseph High School (Cleveland), attended the Case Institute of Technology & served in the US Navy on blimps flying out of Lakehurst NJ. Martin made his living as a programmer & analyst for banking data centers. Following his retirement from Citizens Bank, he was an active presenter of trivia sessions at Wiggins Place and a member of the men’s “Romeo” luncheon group. He held season tickets to the Cleveland Playhouse for 40 consecutive seasons, had a love of classical & big band music and was a regular attendee of the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra.

Martin is survived by son Martin Golob, III, his wife Wendy, His grandchildren Janine Kunitz (Michael), John Golob (Jana Tahtinen), Juliet Golob and great grandchildren Simeon and Theodora (Kunitz). He is also survived by his sister Patricia Marinelli (late John) and sister Nancy Smyth as well as brother-in-law John Campana, his wife Janice, sister-in-law Juliana Dulzer (late Edward), brother-in-law Lawrence Campana (late Barbara).

Martin had 14 Nieces and Nephews: William; Ed W.; Anita(deceased); Joshua; Rebecca; Aaron; Sarah; Christine; Ed D.; Holly; Christopher; Patrick; Mark; Katie; and 34 Great Nieces and Nephews: Jasper; Rayann; Sullivan; Emmet; Maxine; Bernadette; Benjamin; Alexis; Evelyn; Samuel; Elisha; Adeline; Avery; Isaac; Grace; Alexander; Isabella; Luciano; Aiden; Josephine; Luke; Mallory; Daria; Rebecca; Reed; Joseph; Leann; Eve; Victoria; Nathaniel; Lynn; Sarah; Gianna; Sean.

Martin also leaves behind many cousins, neighbors, family and friends in both Ohio & Michigan. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Cleveland Playhouse or your favorite arts organization. Martin’s family wishes to thank everyone who helped along the way, especially the staffs of Woodland Terrace of Bridgman and Caring Circle Hospice.

Friends may call the Fioritto Funeral Home, 5236 Mayfield Rd., Lyndhurst (East of Richmond Rd.) Saturday, May 11 from 10 TO 11 AM, followed by a brief service for family and friends. Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery, 10366 Chardon Rd, Chardon, OH 44024.
