Emmy's Obituary

Emily “Emmy” Jane Spencer passed away at the age of 26 in her home surrounded by her loving family on May 5th, 2024.

Emmy was born on June 12th, 1997, in St Joseph, MI. She graduated from Berrien Springs Discovery Academy in 2016.

She is survived by her parents, Peter and Kelly Spencer; her siblings Sarah (Bryce) Gair and Benjamin (Laura) Spencer; her Maternal Grandmother A. Elaine Wagner; her nieces Eleanor and Grace; her nephews Jude and Bryce, and her "fur babies" Rio, Phoenix and Cedar.

Emmy's greatest joy was caring for children, whether it was at Lake Michigan Catholic Elementary School, or as a nanny. She especially enjoyed caring for her best friend's children. She also loved spending time with her nieces and nephews. Nothing was more important to her than "her kids'" well-being.

Traveling with family and friends was something Emmy cherished. Some of her favorite places included Phoenix, AZ, Pittsburgh, PA, and anywhere in Northern Michigan. Emmy loved the celebration of any holiday season, but her favorite by far was Halloween.

Emmy made an impact on more people than she could know, and her kindness, loyalty, and compassion for others will be sorely missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 8, from 5-7 p.m., at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated, Thursday, May 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph, with Fr. Jack Pfeiffer officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Emmy's memory. Those wishing to sign Emmy’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
