Dianna Sue Kalus, 81, of Buchanan, formerly New Buffalo, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Corewell Health Lakeland, Niles.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, from noon-1 pm also at the funeral home. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.sommerfeldchapel.com.
Sue was born on November 20, 1942, to Joseph and Ida (Lombardo) Campbell in Michigan City, IN. She graduated from New Buffalo High School, class of 1960. Sue had a passion for cooking and baking, having several great recipes over the years. Among the family’s favorites were homemade spaghetti sauce, sloppy joe mix and chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. Sue held a deep love for her family and cherished time spent together. Often playing euchre or poker together, she also enjoyed outings at the casino to play penny slots.
Sue is survived by her children, Perry (Cassandra Hart) Welch, Tim (Kelley) Welch, Kris (Russel Thomas) Hammond and Richard Kalus; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Judy Campbell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ida Campbell and brothers, Robert (Ann) Campbell and Joseph Campbell.
