Richard L. Peters, 82, of Benton Harbor passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Spectrum Health Lakeland, St. Joseph.

A celebration of life service will be held at 6 pm on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Visitation will be held two hours prior, from 4-6 pm also at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Hickory Bluff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.

Rich was born on September 20, 1939, to Charles and Pearl (Hoyer) Peters in Baltimore, MD. He honorably served in the United States Navy. On September 20, 1987, Rich married Wendy Wilson. Professionally, he worked as a car salesman and over the road truck driver. Rich loved being out on the water, both boating and fishing. He also enjoyed assembling model trains and had a great sense of humor. Most of all, Rich cherished time spent with his friends and family.

Rich is survived by his wife of nearly 35 years, Wendy Peters; children, Jon (Julie) Peters, Tina (Rick) Laufersky, Gary (Amanda) Peters, Charles (Julie) Peters and Robin (Charles) Franke; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and sister, Lois Mattson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Pearl Peters; grandson, Cosmo L. Peters and brother.
