Martha's Obituary
Martha I. Curtis, 78, of Buchanan passed away peacefully on Friday, January 7, 2022, at her home.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 5-7 pm on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Swem Chapel, 301 W. Front St., Buchanan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.swemchapel.com.
Martha was born on January 27, 1943 in Ann Arbor, MI. She graduated from Buchanan High School. Martha loved fishing and was a fishing camp guide in Canada at Flint Landing Camp on Heathcote Lake in Thunder Bay, Unorganized, ON. She also lived in Erinsville, ON where they owned fishing cabins and a restaurant called Cedar Bend Lodge in 1977. Martha was a cook, she also loved crafting, whether it be quilting, crocheting or cake decorating. She was an avid Elvis Presley fan and had attended the Elvis Tribute in Graceland several times and enjoyed attending Doug Church and Chris T. Young Elvis impression shows. Most of all, Martha cherished time with her family.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Vickie Miles; step-son, John Curtis; step-grandchildren, April Curtis, John W. (Nichole) Curtis and Joshua (Faye) Curtis; step-brother, Leroy (Susan) Hatfield and step-sister, Sharon Berzley Graves. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin Wagner and Donavee (Wooden) Hatfield; husband, Milton Curtis and step-son, Christopher Curtis.
