Erma's Obituary
Erma L. Freeman, 75, of St. Joseph, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Spectrum Health-Lakeland, St. Joseph.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. A time of gathering will be held one hour prior, from 1-2 pm also at the funeral home. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Erma was born on February 21, 1947, in Heber Springs, AR. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1965. On May 27, 1967, she married Jerold Freeman. Erma enjoyed interior decorating, quilting and was a great cook. She loved reading and could always be found with a book in her hand. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family and was an incredibly loving wife, beloved mother and grandmother, she will be dearly missed.
Erma is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jerry; daughters, Kimberly (Jeffrey) Stewart of Lowell, MI and Rebecca (Michael) Hays of Hartford; grandchildren, Jonathan Stewart, Christopher Stewart, Zachary Hays, Madison Hays and Alana Hays and sister, Anita Louise (David) Nielson of St. Joseph. She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha O’Reilly; father, Leonard Peel and brother, Leon Peel.
