Edward Steinke, 85, of Baroda, MI passed away Monday, May 9, 2022 at his home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Jesse Knox officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M., Monday, May 16, 2022 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stevensville or the Baroda American Legion Post 345. Those wishing to share a memory of Edward online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com
Edward was born March 27, 1937 in Kalamazoo, MI to Arnold & Christine (Sattelmaoer) Steinke. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School and then attended Benton Harbor Community College where he received his Associates Degree. On November 24, 1962 he married Patricia Piontek in St. Joseph. Edward worked for Whirlpool Corporation for 26 years in the maintenance department as well as at Spectrum Health Lakeland in Niles and Lake Michigan College. Edward was also the electrical inspector for the Village of Baroda, Baroda Township and Weesaw Township. He enjoyed working in the yard, woodworking, puzzles, scuba diving and swimming. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and getting up every morning and driving around Baroda and visiting all his friends he never met a stranger.
Edward is survived by his wife Patricia Steinke; son Jeff (Melinda) Steinke; grandchildren Catherine Steinke, James Steinke, Emily Mee, Sarah Mee, Marissa Mantke and Matthew Jordan; and special four-legged companion Sammi. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Elaine Steinke and sister Kathleen Carter.
