Carrolyn's Obituary

Carrolyn Joyce McCord passed away peacefully at her home in St. Joseph on August 15, 2022 after a long illness.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 20,2022 at Starks & Menchinger, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Carrolyn was born to John and Violet McCord on February 9th 1944 in Hayti, Mo. The family moved to Michigan when Carrolyn was a young girl and she attended Seely McCord School, Benton Harbor Jr. High graduating from Benton Harbor High School in 1962; where she was active in the Thespians, and went on to earn a Bachelor Degree from Ferris State University.

Carrolyn was employed by Heath Company, transferring with the Company to Virginia when the local company closed. She moved back to St. Joseph in 1997 and gained employment with the Berrien County Friend of the Court as a Court Investigator until her retirement in 2020.

Carrolyn loved bowling and in her free time she enjoyed knitting hats, mittens and scarves for family, friends and the Safe Shelter.

Carrolyn is survived by her daughter Jennifer Violet (Thomas) Castle of Mishawaka and their children, Kelsey M (David) Dailey, Connor A. Castle, Chayce R Castle and Cole T Castle. Also survived by her sister Patricia (Jim) Ziems of St, Joseph; her brother Jimmy (Marge) McCord of Fredericksburg, Va. and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Barbara McCord, John McCord, Gary McCord and Ronald McCord.

Carrolyn is safely in the arms of her Savior but she will be loved and missed by her friends and family.
