Carole's Obituary

Carole Jean Schlutt, 84, of Buchanan, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Spectrum Health Lakeland, Niles.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Swem Chapel, 301 W. Front St., Buchanan. A time of gathering will be held one hour prior, from 1-2 pm also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan or Redbud Area Ministries (RAM). Carole was born on September 11, 1937 to Dick and Mary (Barker) Brown in South Bend. She attended Galien High School. Professionally, Carole started as a waitress prior to working at Arts Rexall Drug Store in Buchanan for many years. She then served the remainder of her career in banking through the Baroda/Bridgman area. Carole was an avid NOTRE DAME fan! She loved animals and had several dogs and cats through the years. Carole also enjoyed cooking, gardening, sports and Tom Jones. Most of all, she cherished her family and spending time with them at family gatherings and holidays.

Carole is survived by her children, Peggy (Jim) Stine of Bridgman, Bonnie (Denny) Hinman of Buchanan, Timothy Ender of Kalamazoo, Alisa Wardecke of Bridgman and P. Joseph (JoAnn) DeMeulenaere III of Bridgman; grandchildren, Tricia (Rich) Smith, Jeff (Corinne Fleming) Stine, Eric (Jessica) Stine, TJ DeMeulenaere, Matt DeMeulenaere and Steph DeMeulenaere; great-grandchildren, Braeden, Gavin and Owen Smith and nephew, Larry Rollf. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Mary Brown; son-in-law, Denny Hinman and sister, Sally Hoit.
