Gail's Obituary

Gail Ann (Sips) Loring-Trusha, life-long resident of New Buffalo, was born on March 25, 1938, and passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 28, 2021. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel of 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.

Gail is survived by her twin sister Grace Fradette, sister Carol Wold, brother Edward Sips, grandchildren Amber Loring, Charles Loring, Jr., and Michael Loring, multiple great-grandchildren, niece Kathy Wold, nephew John Wold and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Lucy and Edward Sips, Sr., first husband Albert Loring, Sr., sons Albert Loring, Jr. and Charles Loring, Sr., second husband Francis Michael Trusha, sister Ellen Sips, brother-in-law Harold Wold and nephew Jim Wold.

Gail for many years ran the Top Hat Tavern and adjoining Sport Shop with her husband Albert Loring, Sr. Following the closing of those business operations, she worked for many years at Wendy’s in New Buffalo. Finally in retirement she enjoyed being outdoors, tending to her plants, flowers, bushes and lawn. Gail was the number one enemy of dandelions in all of New Buffalo. As with her sisters she was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church.

A private family committal service was held at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo with Father Basker Lopez officiating. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dunes Hospice and Trail Creek for their kindness and loving care of our sister in her last few months. Memorial contributions in Gail’s name may be made to St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church or donor’s choice. Friends wishing to leave a message or condolence online may do so at www.sommerfeldchapel.com.
