Betty's Obituary

Betty Ann Kesterke of Benton Harbor, Michigan, passed away Sunday morning, April 21, 2024 at Caretel Inns in St. Joseph, Michigan. Betty was born on May 28, 1938, the only child to Harry H. “Red” and Gerta E. (Ost) Kesterke. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Michigan University in Business, and then an MBA in Finance from he University of Texas at Austin. Betty retired after 16 years at Sunoco Oil Company.

She will be remembered for her generous and tender heart, financial acumen, quick wit, and her love of cats.

Loved ones preceding her in death were her parents; three aunts - Frieda Marceau, Gertrude (Ted) Childs, Louise (Fred) Undem; uncle - Walter (Kay) Ost; three cousins – Harry Marceau, Jr, Barbara (Warren) Sweet, Annette (Jim) Bird.

Surviving are two cousins – Mary Holly Barra, and Thomas (Christine) Ost; her cousin Barbara’s children - Rick Davis, Christopher Sweet, Candy Sweet, John Sweet, Keith Sweet, Todd Sweet, and Ted Sweet (all of whom she was quite fond of and lived close by), and many other cousins and friends.

A service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 25, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd, St. Joseph. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit with Betty’s family from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 24, at the funeral home.
